This is a collection of rigging work and python tools I've put together over the last year.
MotionBuilder Custom FBX Exporter.
This tool plots a character's animation based on a specified take and framerange, validates the animations (checks scale and root rotation) and finally exports the skeleton using Maze's naming conventions.
Advanced Skeleton Rigging.
Post-Peaky Blinders VR, I was tasked with improving our AS rigging pipeline, by improving visual fidelity in the face and body.
Validation Tool.
This is a rig validation tool, that has a series of checks to ensure that the rig is suitable for export.
Atlas Building Tool (WIP).
This is a proof of concept, but the idea is to combine and optimise meshes and textures to lower the draw calls in Unity.
Animator Controller in Unity.
This is a simplified version of the animator controller used for characters in Peaky Blinders (this version was used for demonstration purposes during a tech animation workshop).
Mixamo Root Motion Conversion Scripts.
Adds a root joint to the Mixamo rig, updates the joint names, and calculates the root motion based on the hips world space.
Advanced Skeleton Preset Tool.
Asides from visual updates, this tool adds Root Control, Local Space Switching, Twist Controls for spine and neck, custom head ctrls, and skeletal hierarchy adjustments.
JSON Pose Transfer Scripts.
A Tool that stores skeletal data in a JSON file, which can then be read and applied to another skeleton (with the same structure and naming conventions).
Reverse Animation Tool.
A very basic tool, that takes everything animated in a scene, and reverses it. Could this have been easily handled in Unity? Probably. But this was easy enough to build regardless.
Distance Calculator Script.
Bit of a niche tool. It calculates the average distance per second the character moves. The values were needed for some programming tasks before we setup a root motion system.
